The Acer Aspire Timeline 1820PTZ isn’t shipping yet in the west, but VR-Zone forum member Denosha managed to get his hands on Acer’s first 11.6 inch touchscreen tablet-style notebook and he’s posted a detailed article on his early impressions of the notebook.

• The computer is small, but heavy for an 11.6 inch notebook at 3.8 pounds.


• The screen is heavy enough to make the computer fall over if you tilt the display back too far.


• Plastic case, but solid build quality without any noticeable keyboard flex


• The color and contrast on the touchscreen display aren’t that great, although it is sharp due to the high pixel density.


• The touchscreen can recognize either finger or stylus input, although you’ll get best results if you switch the settings to finger or stylus mode first.


• The display is pressure sensitive.


• The computer has an Intel Pentium Dual Core SU4100 CPU and has no problems with HD YouTube videos or 720p local video playback. 1080p playback is a little more finicky.


• Good battery life, with an unscientific estimate of 7 to 8 hours of run time from the 5600mAh battery.
