If you’re looking to lose a half hour or so of your day, head over to Brett Dickins’ YouTube page. The kinetic artist specialises in hypnotic, enchanting mechanized wall sculptures, such as the prototype mechanism shown mid-splay here, which variously jumble and then righten themselves, churn away mindlessly or even saw away at their own casings.

There’s little detail regarding how Brett actually makes the pieces, and a quick search didn’t turn up a project page, so if you have any more information then let us know in the comments. That’s if you’re not too busy gazing slack-jawed at the cogs.
