This case looks like it’s perfect for back and forth from home to office. I did notice a few other cases for notebooks with 18.4″ display at adorama dot com with different pocket configurations as well.

I had been looking for a case for my 18″ laptop for quite some time. This was one of only three that I was able to find online; they were no place to be found in stores! I originally ordered from Dell before Christmas only to be notified 2 weeks later that it was out of stock. I was able to find it on Amazon, ordered on Monday morning and received it Tuesday afternoon!!! It is a nice looking case that does not look like a suitcase. Great value.

I recently bought this case for my new HP Pavilion dv8 laptop. It has an 18.4″ screen and I have had a devilish time finding a case that fits. Most case manufacturers say their case fits a 17-18″ laptop, but then I find out that it is a 17″ case that you are expected to wedge an 18.4″ laptop into. So I was thrilled to find a well known manufacturer advertising a case designed to hold a screen my size.
And it does. The laptop fits well, with plenty of padding and security. The compartment itself is NOT like in the picture. You can’t open it flat, but instead it has fabric on the sides that keep it from opening all the way. Once you get the compartment sized properly, you can slip the laptop in and out of the case vertically, which is OK.
The problem I have is that there is no room for accessories. I don’t know what the other reviewers’ accessories are like, but this case didn’t even have room for the power supply brick, much less the power cord, a mouse, and the various other peripherals I need to carry. One of the other reviewers mentioned a side pocket, but mine had no side pocket. the front pocket is very narrow and would work for USB drives, flash cards, and the like. There is a small pocket on the top front that would be handy for a cell phone or ipod. The rear pocket for papers doubles as the luggage strap, which makes even that pocket barely useful.
I will be returning this bag.

I was greatly satisfied with the briefcase. It is of excellent quality and more than I expected. It isn’t bulky, is easy to carry and adjustable. It was the only one I could find that would accommodate my laptop without spending alot. GREAT deal for the price.

This laptop case is very basic, but simple is usually better IMO. It fits my HP HDX18t Premium Series Notebook (18″) just fine.
There were only 2 downsides. First, the side pocket doesn’t really have too much room for more than a few CDs, thumb drives or thin external drive. They would have done better to put an actual pocket that could hold the power cord (with converter), travel mouse and any misc compact cords. (I guess they wanted to keep the bulk down.) The other problem is that the compartment for the computer itself doesn’t open all the way. It is more like a “V” shape. I think they did this so there was less issue with the flap opening up and dumping your laptop (like a briefcase style), but it makes it a little awkward to get it in and out. Seriously, a 18″ laptop takes a lot more finger strength to take out when you can’t open flap all the way than a 15″.
On the upside, I didn’t want to pay a lot and this was the cheaper of all the cases I found that was self-contained (padded – rather than just a neoprene sleeve). I also won’t be traveling too much with it, but when I do need to move it, it will be well protected. It also comes with a side strap that helps due to the weight and size of the laptop. It also has a cross panel on the back of the bag so you slide it down on a handle of a rolling suitcase and it will stay in place. That feature alone is pretty slick if you ever need it.
