Droid, Can You Hear Me Now?

There have been reports of speaker problems with the Motorola Droid running Android 2.0. The issue is that the loud speaker won't activate to alert you of incoming notifications or alarms. For a few, a soft reset does the trick and others have reported that Motorola is just replacing their Droid for newer units.
It looks like the Droid's iconic "Drooiiiiddd" alert sound has been muted, somewhat ironic since it launched on a network that's now famous for its "Can You Hear Me Now" ad campaign.
